After the presidential election of 2016, two choir directors were looking for a way to take action. The San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus thought a tour of the southern states might give the choir an opportunity to offer solace and call attention to anti LGBTQ legislation. The Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir was moved by the message of inclusion and social activism and signed on. So the two directors, Tim Seelig and Terrance Kelly, collaborated to create a tour that would bring inspiration and support at every stop. The tour did just that, but what they couldn't have predicted was the magic that would happen between members of the two choirs and the profound experience all three hundred people would have. Join both directors on Good Grief as they talk about the power of music as a tool for justice, about what impacted them as directors on the tour, and what they imagine in the future to continue the incredible momentum the tour created.
On Good Grief we explore the losses that define our lives. Each week, we talk with people who have transformed themselves through the profound act of grieving. Why settle for surviving? Say yes to the many experiences that embody loss! Grief can teach you where your strengths are and ignite your courage. It can heighten your awareness of what is important to you and help you let go of what is not.
