With gun violence at epidemic rates, often directed at vulnerable communities, family face a grief which is hard to address. In particular, the threat of shootings in schools leaves both parents and children afraid of something they have no power to avoid. In realistic pictures capturing the actuality of grief, it opens conversation and supports families wrestling with the new reality. What inspired him and his fellow film makers?
