Do you have dreams that seem as impossible as becoming a rocket scientist? Well, today's guest, Olympia LePointe, latched onto such a dream when she was a little girl on a class field trip to a NASA lab. The only problem was that she was living in poverty with a single mom and three siblings, amidst gang violence and childhood sexual abuse. If she would've told anyone her dream, they would have laughed at her. Fortunately, after she was knifed by a classmate in 5th grade, her mother was able to get her transferred to a better school, where a mentor helped her to raise her failing math and science scores, so she could go on to grad school and finally become a rocket scientist! Indeed, she is a real life 'hidden figure'-just like the movie. She helped launch 28 NASA Space Shuttle missions-including Endeavor, Atlantis, Columbia and Discovery. Her new book, Answers Unleashed: The Science of Unleashing Your Brain's Power, helps people launch their dreams, just like she has done!
